A new Train the Trainers course from the Awareness Initiative is coming up. From August 12-16, we want to train multipliers for paid awareness workshops in Thuringia and Central Germany in Erfurt.
In the training course, we will deal with the basics of awareness and anti-discrimination work, look at different forms and levels of discrimination and teach you long-established methods and modules to be able to give awareness workshops for the Awareness Initiative in Thuringia/Central Germany.
The Awareness Initiative is an association based in Leipzig that was founded in summer 2018 by people with experience of awareness and people from the event sector in order to pool and share their knowledge. The association is committed to combating (sexualized) violence and discrimination in the event context from an intersectional perspective. The initiative advises and supports event venues in the implementation of awareness strategies, trains staff and awareness teams nationwide, organizes further training, conferences and nationwide networking days. With the project "support f(x) - interface for awareness, anti-discrimination and violence prevention", we want to support the community in its self-organization in the long term. The focus is on exchanging and sharing resources and knowledge. We want to offer this network platform to the large number of awareness and anti-discrimination initiatives in order to enable joint practice based on solidarity.
Train the Trainers will take place in Erfurt from August 12 to 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. We will provide a seminar room as well as lunch, drinks and snacks. If you need a place to sleep in Erfurt or can offer one, please let us know when you register. We will try to coordinate a sleeping place exchange and can provide you with overnight accommodation in a youth hostel in case of doubt.
There are 15 training places available. As we have received more inquiries than available places in the past, there is an application process. The awareness field also reflects social realities. That is why we particularly want to encourage people who (have to) experience discrimination to apply. Another important aspect of the selection process is the willingness to give paid workshops for us in the future.
This time, participation is reserved for people who live in Thuringia and/or are interested in giving workshops in Thuringia and Central Germany.
A personal contribution of €40 is required for the training. If it is not possible for you to pay this, please write to us! Unfortunately, we are not usually able to cover travel costs, but here too: if it is not financially possible, please contact us!
If you are interested, save the date and check our Instagram @initiaitve.awareness for the latest information!
The application period is June 13-26, 2024.
You can access the application form here.
