  • Duration: For 12 months (extension possible)
  • Location: Leipzig

  • Scope of work: 20.5 -40 hours per week

To support the project, we are looking for a federal volunteer for the Leipzig location from 05.08.2024. The scope of work and the duration of the Federal Volunteer Service will be discussed individually during the job interview.

The project:

In recent years, many initiatives and groups have been founded that are committed to discrimination- and violence-sensitive event life. With our project "support f(x) - interface for awareness, anti-discrimination and violence prevention", we use our experience from over 10 years of practical awareness work to support and thematically network all those who are involved in awareness throughout Germany. Our second project "Support f(x). Awareness interface for Saxony" has a similar structure, but focuses on the specific conditions in Saxony, creates even more finely meshed networks and also aims to bring about change outside the major cities. Another focus here is on raising awareness and providing information on discrimination, violence, consensus and the ideas behind awareness.

The main location of the Initiative Awareness e.V. is Leipzig. Most of the staff working on the Support f(x) and Support f(x) Saxony projects are based here. Work on the project is based on a division of labor. In addition to the "Project Coordination" team, there are people who work in the areas of "Public Relations", "Education", "Administration/Management and Team Coordination". The "Project Coordination" team is responsible for coordinating, planning and implementing the planned measures - i.e. the sub-goals of the project. This includes various event formats, from information stands and roundtables to specialist conferences, as well as content-related work such as concept development, reporting and work in various networks.

Your activities:

  • Support of the "Project Coordination" team
  • Collaboration in the development of ideas and strategies for projects
  • Partial responsibility for planning and implementation of events
  • Expansion and maintenance of online and offline networks
  • Joint coordination with the team and, if interested, with other committees

We offer:

  • A varied job
  • A field of work with high socio-political relevance
  • The opportunity to contribute to the team according to your own strengths and interests
  • A working environment that is sensitive to discrimination
  • Participation and co-determination in joint planning processes
  •  Possibility of regular supervision and participation in training courses that correspond to interests

-

Accessibility:

  • The office in Leipzig is not wheelchair accessible. There are steps in the entrance area and the toilet is not barrier-free, partly because it is too small
  • There are no guidance systems
  • Working hours are flexible and can be planned individually, at the same time we would like to have common core working hours for agreements and meetings, flexibility is limited here
  • There are currently no budgets for sign language interpretation.
  • Fonts in 9p or similarly small are often used

We wish:

  • Experience with or a strong interest in project work, event organization, anti-discrimination and/or awareness work.
  • Interest in planning processes
  • Communication skills and openness
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness for group processes
  • the willingness to accept occasional evening and weekend appointments
  • An examination of topics relevant to the area of awareness, in particular (sexualized) violence, queer hostility, racism and other forms of discrimination
  • German language skills at level B2 or higher
